Sinopsis: Pada tahun 2015, para malaikat berukuran besar dan sangat kuat, mesin perang alien, muncul di Tokyo untuk kedua kalinya. Hanya segelintir remaja, yang lahir empat belas tahun lalu, sembilan bulan setelah Malaikat pertama muncul. Salah satunya adalah Shinji Ikari, seorang anak dari orang yang memimpin NERV. Terjebak di dalam pusaran pertempuran dan peristiwa yang tidak dia mengerti, Shinji dipaksa untuk tidak hanya berperang, tetapi juga bertahan hidup, atau dia akan kehilangan segalanya.
